2023 Alternative Fuels Incentive Grants(AFIG)

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has announced that the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) program is now accepting applications for the 2023 program year. AFIG has approximately $3 million in funding available to school districts, municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and businesses in Pennsylvania that want to transition to cleaner fuel transportation.    Supported alternative fuels include electricity, compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hydrogen, hythane, biodiesel, ethanol, methanol, and other advanced biofuels.    Grant funding covers: Incremental costs related to retrofitting vehicles to operate on alternative fuels; Incremental costs to purchase alternative fuel vehicles; Cost to purchase and install the necessary fleet-refueling or home-refueling equipment for alternative fuel vehicles; Cost to perform research, training, development, and demonstration of new applications or next-phase technology related to alternative fuel vehicles.   Priorities for this year’s funding include: Projects that are located in or predominantly serve environmental justice areas;   Minority-, veteran-, or woman-owned businesses; Zero emission vehicle projects;Renewable natural gas vehicle and infrastructure projects;Medium- and light-duty fleet refueling infrastructure projects.  Application Deadlines: There will be two application periods, with deadlines as follows:  First Application Period Deadline: 8/25/2023 at 11:59 PM ET Second Application Period Deadline: 12/15/2023 at 11:59 PM ET Additional Information: For additional details and instructions for how to apply, please visit:   http://www.dep.pa.gov/AFIG   Other questions? DOE’s Clean Cities Program Celebrates 30 Years of Alternative Fuel Solutions! PRCC’s Odyssey Day Convenes Alternative Fuel Vehicles (pghtech.org) Event Description: Our biggest day of the year is just around the corner! The Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities (PRCC) Coalition warmly invites you to save the date for our annual Odyssey Day Celebration! This year we will be honoring the 30th Anniversary of the Department of Energy’s Clean Cities Program. Please join us! Odyssey Day provides a full day of interactive and experiential educational activities dedicated to promoting the use of alternative fuels and advanced technology vehicles. The annual gathering was first coordinated by the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium (NAFTC) headquartered at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in 2002. PRCC hosts Odyssey Day every Fall at the Community College of Allegheny County’s (CCAC’s) West Hills Center. The day features presentations and unique activities designed to educate the public about cleaner transportation technologies while highlighting the unique features of CCAC’s facilities. Participants explore sustainable, climate-friendly transportation solutions while learning about the many collaborative opportunities available throughout the Western PA region.Example activities include:• workshops• demonstrations• clean, alternative fuel vehicle displays• ride-and-drives and more!
